Rachel Hatteberg, M.S.
Ms. Hatteberg received her B.S. in Meteorology from Iowa State University in 2010 and a M.S. in Meteorology from Iowa State University in 2014, and has 6 years of software development experience developing and implementing meteorological research applications.
For her Master’s thesis project, she developed an analytical model which allowed for quality control and statistical analysis of observational and model simulated wind data in which she observed seasonal and annual trends in surface wind speeds.
From 2013 to 2016 Ms. Hatteberg worked as a Scientific Programmer under a federal contract with NOAA NESDIS in the Office for Satellite and Products and Operations (OSPO). While at OSPO, she assisted in the development and maintenance of a variety of satellite-based meteorological applications including Synthetic Aperture Radar Ocean Surface Wind Speeds, CoastWatch, Coral Reef Watch, and Ensemble Tropical Rainfall Precipitation.
From 2016 to 2018 Ms. Hatteberg worked as a Research Engineer under a federal contract with NOAA NESDIS with the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR). While at STAR, she worked on the design, test, and implementation of software to analyze hi-res remote sensing data from GOES-16, GOES-17 ABI, NPP and J1 VIIRS, and METOP AVHRR sensors.
In 2018 Ms. Hatteberg accepted a position as a Software Engineer for Aeris where she has primarily been working on integration and maintenance of the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Effects Model (JEM) software system.
